NTU STARS is the course-registration portal. It is where you see all module information for the current semester, select the modules you want to take, check your personalised registration time, and register for courses. It also shows how many Academic Units (AUs) you should register for and the maximum AUs allowed for the current semester.
How to swap your index in NTU STARS
An index number identifies a class at a set date and time. When you register, you pick an index for each module.
You can swap your index number with people in your faculty and you can change to any available index. You can do so during your personalised course registration period and add-drop period.
Registration Periods
Personalised course registration is the period where you can register for courses. Courses can be Major Prescribed Electives (MPEs), Broadening and Deepening Electives (BDEs) or Digital Literacy modules. Every course has a set number of MPEs and BDEs that you have to clear before you graduate. You may see this in your programme's course outline.
Add-drop is also a period where you can register for courses, but most students use it to swap indexes to make their timetable nicer as it is better to have a 3-day packed timetable than a 5-day messy one, especially if you do not stay in hall. Students also drop courses once they realise professors are not as good as they think.
